JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) -- Missouri tax revenues are showing some signs of improvement.

The Missouri Office of Administration said Thursday that sales taxes collections increased by about 9 percent in May compared with the same month a year ago.

If that growth continues next month, it could break a streak of 10 straight quarters of declining sales tax revenues.

Individual income tax collections in May were about the same as they were a year ago.

Overall, Missouri's net general revenues still were down about 8 percent through the first 11 months of its fiscal year. The state budget year ends June 30.
