Just after 9pm Monday night members of Missouri Task Force One got the activation order to assist with rescue efforts on the east coast. The federally funded team is based in the headquarters of the Boone County Fire Protection district.

A spokesman tonight said the team does not know where they will be sent, but will head east within four hours. They anticipate rescue missions for victims of Hurricane Sandy.

According to the teams web site, the task force is designed to be self-sufficient for up to 72 hours. After that, the military re-supplies the task force.
