OSAGE BEACH, Mo -- Whether big or small, everyone loves carving a pumpkin.
But for some at Lake of the Ozarks, it's not what you carve into your pumpkin, but how you carve your pumpkin.
"I guess we're going to do some underwater pumpkin carving,” said diver and carver Mike Smith. “Kinda planned ahead a little and drew ahead a little bit. It's going to be dark a little bit, but we'll see what we can do."
For 10-15 minutes the divers were submerged in the water at Public Beach number 2.
And they came back up with a masterpiece.
This is the first year of the underwater pumpkin carving event, butthe Tri-County YMCA wants to make this a yearly tradition of their own.
"Yes we want to make this and 3-4 years from now have this whole beach full," said Tri-County YMCA President Joann Rutherford.
And, maybe, they say, spread this tradition around the country.
