One was arrested after their crashed escape vehicle was found

Two people have been arrested for their involvement in an attempt to steal catalytic converters from vehicles at Corwin Honda (3215 Missouri Boulevard).

The men, 35-year-old Ryan Blackburn and 54-year-old Michael Rogers, are both from Holts Summit.

Just past 3 a.m. Tuesday, a Jefferson City police officer checking the business found the two men in the back lot. Blackburn and Rogers ran to a nearby vehicle and drove away.

Responding officers found the escape vehicle crashed at the intersection of Missouri and South Country Club. Rogers was found in nearby brush, while Blackburn escaped.

Just after 1 a.m. Wednesday, officers arrested Blackburn. He is in the Cole County Jail with pending charges of tampering with a motor vehicle, possession of burglary tools and resisting arrest. Rogers faces charges of tampering with a motor vehicle, resisting arrest and leaving the scene of an accident.

The investigation is ongoing.
