A Holts Summit man charged with multiple crimes pleaded not guilty on Monday morning.

Authorities say Bryan Sator, 23, and Megan Ayers, 30, admitted they did not check on Ayers’ baby boy for at least 12 hours and admitted using meth the day before authorities found the body of 9-month-old Kyson Weathers.

Authorities found the infant’s body unattended in a playpen in June.

Prosecutors have charged both Sartor and Ayers with endangering the welfare of a child, possession of a controlled substance and unlawful use of drug paraphernalia.

The investigation into the child’s death is still ongoing.

The child endangerment charge deals with a second child in the residence.

Both suspects remain in the Callaway County Jail with bonds set at $25,000.

Sartor’s trial date is to be set by a judge.

Ayers is expected to plead not guilty this Friday afternoon.
