A Randolph County judge ruled there was probable cause that a felony was committed in the case of Cassidy King, 26.

Investigators said King hid the body of her dead baby boy in a Higbee pond last summer.

During a preliminary hearing on Wednesday at the Randolph County Justice Center, prosecutors produced enough evidence to send King’s case to circuit court.

Court documents show King gave birth to the newborn several weeks before King’s sister found the baby’s body on Mother’s Day of last year.  King pleaded not guilty to second degree murder.  Prosecutor Mike Fusselman called four witnesses during King’s preliminary hearing.  Randolph County Coroner Gerald Luntsford said the death of Cassidy King’s newborn baby boy was a homicide.

King remains in the Randolph County Jail.  King’s next court appearance will be an arraignment in circuit court next Wednesday at 1:30 p.m.

King also faces separate charges of drug trafficking from an investigation that happened two years ago.
