(AP) -- ST. CHARLES, Mo. (AP) -- A four-deck, old-fashioned steamboat that once plied the Mississippi River near St. Louis as a floating restaurant could soon be sold for scrap unless it's sold at a last-ditch auction next weekend.

The Belle of the Night operated as the Belle Angeline on Laclede's Landing in the 1970s and `80s, but now appears at the end of its rope after its owner couldn't find anyone to buy it.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports owner Pete Tully tried unsuccessfully to get the 37-year-old vessel operating again in the St. Louis area and elsewhere. If it's not sold at auction Saturday, Tully says he'll sell the boat's furnishing and fixtures Oct. 24 and send the rest to "the recycler."
