A man is in jail after beating another with a baseball bat.

Pulaski County Sheriff's officials went to a residence on Seneca Lane, near Waynesville, at about 6:20 Friday evening. The man who had been hit told authorities he and his attacker, 48-year-old Tyrone Fellers, had gotten into an argument that escalated into a physical confrontation.

The injured man went to the Ft. Wood hospital for treatment before being sent to a hospital in Columbia.

Fellers went to the Sheriff's Office to make his own statement about the incident. When asked about the baseball bat, Fellers went to his truck and handed it over.

Fellers was arrested for assault and placed in the Pulaski County Jail on a 24-hour hold while a statement of probable cause was sent to the Pulaski County Prosecutor requesting charges for the assault.

The prosecutor filed one count of first degree assault with a weapon, with bond set at $250,000. Fellers remains in the Pulaski County Jail pending the posting of bond.
