COLUMBIA, Mo. -- If you wanted to go outside and enjoy some barbeque on Saturday, it was the perfect day to do so, and help a worthy cause in the process.
A local charity called 'Reece Raises Hope' held their second annual fall fundraiser Saturday at Twin Lakes Shelter in Columbia.
Yes, there was plenty of barbeque to be had, as well as live music, but the real reason folks came out was to raise money for the charity, which had a goal of raising $7000 for cooling blanket to be purchased for the MU Children's Hospital.
The special cooling blanket was the same kind of device that helped save 3-year-old Reece Borst's life when he was born in 2009 with birth asphyxia, which is when a newborn infant suffers a severe lack of oxygen.
If you want to donate to Reece Raises Hope, you can do so by sending your donation to P.O. box 4051 , Blue Springs, Missouri 64013, or you can go here.
