Components of a meth lab were discovered in a stolen vehicle Tuesday afternoon.

Cole County Sheriff's deputies chased the stolen car into Moniteau County, then back into Cole County. When the car wrecked in the 32000 block of Sassafras, the two occupants ran.

Missouri State Highway Patrol and Moniteau County Sheriff's authorities went to the scene to assist Cole County officials.

Items for a meth lab were found in the crashed car and seized for evidence.

Two people were later caught by Moniteau County deputies and turned over to the Cole County Sheriff's Department.

Robert Smart and Michael Kinslow were taken to the Cole County Jail and held pending charges for: tampering first degree, resisting arrest, unlawful use of drug paraphernalia and possession of drug precursor – all felonies.

Both men also had active warrants. Smart had three felony warrants for failure to appear from Moniteau County, while Kinslow had three misdemeanor warrants for failure to appear from Newton County.
