Governor Jay Nixon today announced nearly $1 million in grants to educate additional nurses at college and universities across the state.

Part of the funding includes a $150,000 grant to the University of Missouri-Columbia.

The money is the latest award of grants made available through the Caring for Missourians Initiative.

Nixon made the announcement during a visit to the University of Missouri’s Sinclair School of Nursing.

The State Board of Nursing also approved six additional grants including $124,115 for Lincoln University in Jefferson City.
