Noting as many details as possible is key

University of Missouri officials are monitoring the situations at the University of Texas and North Dakota State University closely.

No threats have come in at MU, but the MU Police Department wants to offer these tips if anyone were to get a threatening call.

Police say to get as much information as possible, and to make that information as specific as you can. Verbatim is better than paraphrasing.

Also write down any information from the caller ID, like a name or number, and listen for any distinct background noise that you can give police.

Officers say this information can make a big difference in tracking a threatening call.
