A former Auxvasse city alderman will spend the next 12 years in prison.

31 year old George "Trey" Baumgartner pleaded guilty to multiple charges today involving drugs and cashing stolen checks.

According to Callaway County Prosecutor Chris Wilson, Baumgartner was sentenced to 8 years in prison for selling methamphetamine to an undercover officer in October 2011.

He also entered guilty pleas in circuit court to charges of burglary and forgery for stealing a book of checks from an Auxvasse home and cashing them at two Fulton banks and another business. He got 6 years for each of those offenses, and an additional 4 year sentence for a guilty plea for possessing a controlled substance in January 2012.

In all, Wilson says Baumgartner will spend 12 years in prison and will also have to complete a substance abuse program before being considered for release.
