MU Health Care and the School of Medicine will see new leadership this fall.

The changes were announced Friday

Hospital CEO Jim Ross will retire December 31.

Ross lead the hospital during the growth of the health system which included development of a new Women's and Children's Hospital. Neurosciences Center, Orthopaedic Center and Psychiatric Center.

Taking over will be the hospital's chief operating officer Mitch Wasden, who will oversee the completion of a new patient tower and re-location of the Ellis Fischel Cancer Center.

Also Friday, the vice chancellor announced the promotion of Les Hall to take over as Dean of the MU School of Medicine.

Former dean Robert Churchill announced in June that he would step down at the end of October.

Since 2008, Hall has served as senior associate dean for clinical affairs at the School of Medicine and as chief medical officer for the hospital.
