His home was destroyed in a fire the night before

A Harrisburg man was jailed on suspicion of assaulting a Boone County sheriff’s deputy and an insurance adjuster Friday afternoon at a home destroyed by a fire the night before.

Deputies were called to 13600 North Route E at about 12:30 p.m. after Boone County Fire Protection District firefighters requested assistance investigating the fire.

Shortly after arrival, a deputy saw the homeowner, Thomas E. Penrose, 29, shove the insurance adjuster, a 32-year-old man.

Penrose was taken into custody after a scuffle with two deputies and the firefighters. One of the deputies was taken to Boone Hospital Center for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

Penrose is being held in the Boone County Jail awaiting bond to be set on charges of second degree assault of a law enforcement officer, felony resisting arrest and assault third degree.

The insurance adjuster was treated for a minor injury at the scene.
