Like it or not, it was the first day of school for many children in our area.

Nonetheless, classes were in session this morning, and the kids were pouring into the school buildings.

Blair Oaks, Fulton, Fatima, New Bloomfield, Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic, Linn, and Hallsville all had their first days today.

New Bloomfield school officials says it something they look forward to every year.

"I got here early, and crack of dawn, we had parents with kindergarteners in front of the building taking pictures.” said New Bloomfield Superintendent David Tramel. “This is my 24th first day of school, and it never gets old."

New Bloomfield officials also said that they look forward to the year academically, especially since their district scored a perfect 14 points on their Annual Performance Report this year; a drastic turnaround since the 6 points their district received in 2009.

Other districts in our area, including Columbia, Jefferson City, and Eldon will all start school tomorrow.
