(AP) -- ST. LOUIS (AP) -- A suburban St. Louis apartment fire has left one person dead and caused several others to be stranded until rescuers arrived.
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports the first call for the two-alarm fire in Hazelwood came in at 11:45 p.m. Saturday.
Robertson Fire Protection District Battalion Chief Todd Phillips says crews found the victim, whose identity hasn't been released, on the third floor of the 10-unit apartment building.
Firefighters found five people, including a 2-week-old baby, trapped by fire on the third floor. Phillips says the infant was handed out the window and taken down a ladder to safety.
He says it's not clear what started the blaze.
