Governor Nixon attending firm's expansion announcement

(AP) -- ST. PETERS, Mo. -- Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon is traveling to the St. Louis area to highlight the expansion plans of a worldwide maker of carbon fiber.

Business and community leaders were scheduled to join the governor Wednesday afternoon in St. Peters for the announcement at Zoltek Corp.

Zoltek is headquartered in St. Louis, with manufacturing facilities in St. Peters, St. Charles, Texas, Hungary and Mexico. Outside the United States, the company has sales offices in Hungary, China, India, Korea and Singapore.

Zoltek's carbon fiber is used in a variety of products that include wind turbines, sporting goods, motor vehicles and offshore drilling equipment.
