A ribbon cutting for the new 179 interchange in Jefferson City is scheduled to take place on Thursday.

The interchange now provides motorists coming from Missouri Boulevard access to the new Saint Mary's Health Center, through a new road called Mission Drive.

A portion of highway 179 closed in august of last year so construction crews could begin working on a new underpass that connects Missouri Boulevard with 179.

In October, they finished construction of the interchange two weeks ahead of schedule.

They spent the remaining time between then and now removing excess rock from the west side of the new underpass to make room for new ramps that connect to Mission Drive.
