ASHLAND, MO -- The funeral services for 13-year-old Alexandra and 8-year-old Brayden Anderson were held Tuesday at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Columbia. The family then witnessed an outpouring of support from their hometown of Ashland.

Two of the family's three children drowned on July 4th. They were shocked by an electric current in the water near a private dock at the Lake of the Ozarks.

As the funeral procession traveled through downtown Ashland on the way to Liberty Cemetery, hundreds lined the streets with hands on their hearts as the cars went by. One couple held a sign, others released balloons, some cried.

Alicia Lange knew Alexandra and said, "I'm very proud of our community for showing their love and support for the Anderson family. It's incredible to see a whole community show up and show their love for them."

That sentiment was echoed by others on the street.

After the burial, there was a reception planned at the Ashland High School Commons. According to the school district's website, the community support will continue in another way. The Ashland Baptist Church is collecting freezer meals for the family and has space to store them for six months.

There is also a fund set up for donations for the family. You can contribute at any Boone County National Bank branch.
