It was a trip that many area veterans will never forget, and this morning they arrived back in Columbia from their honor flight.
And a grand welcome back they got, as they were escorted from Kingdom City by more than 900 motorcycles.
Folks from all around the area came out in support of these brave men and woman as well.
Even many of the younger generations came out to assist in the celebration, as they helped greet and escort the vets coming off the bus, and to help everyone remember those who paid the ultimate sacrifice.
Grant Hopwood said that he has incredible respect for these men and women, especially since he says he want to join the Marine Corps one day.
"Today, 4th of July, it just really feels good to feel like that, even though we can't shoot off fireworks. It still feels pretty good to be an American at this time."
Organizers say that they think this honor flight homecoming was the biggest one they've ever held, and they say they couldn't have picked a better time than on the birthday of our country's liberation.
