Yesterday, Mizzou joined the Southeastern conference. Today, they got a new flag.

The flag ceremony took place at nine this morning, and faculty, alumni, and students helped join in the celebration.

Mizzou athletic director Mike Alden said that fan and athlete response has been largely receptive, and he urged supporters that the move is not just for a change of scenery.

"To step up, and be able to measure ourselves at an even higher level, against great universities in the county. I think it's a statement to that, I think that all of us are going to be challenged, I don't think there's any doubt. But that's what we want to be, is we want to be challenged."

The Mizzou tiger football team will play their opening game on September 1st against Southeast Louisiana.

But their first game in the sec will happen on September 8th against the Univeristy of Georgia.
