The Missouri State Highway Patrol arrested a Raytown man after a car chase through two counties.

At about 6:45 a.m. Friday, the Highway Patrol received a call for a wrong-way driver on I-70 in Cooper County.

The Patrol said the driver, Neil Ray Barnard, 64, eventually turned around and went the right direction in the eastbound lanes in Boone County.

That’s when Barnard, 64, led authorities on a chase on I-70.

Troopers said the suspect got off the interstate on the West Blvd. exit in Columbia, and then got back on I-70.

Troopers deployed spike strips at mile marker 129 on the interstate and Barnard’s Toyota Echo eventually came to a stop at the Lake of the Woods exit.

Barnard was taken to the Boone County Jail.
