Witnesses tell us the fire started at about 4:40 am Sunday morning at Brookside Manor apartments.

The complex at College and Walnut were still under construction.

Construction crews started knocking it down Sunday. On Monday, fire crews were back on the scene putting out smaller, smoldering fires.

"The fire is under investigation, so we have no leads or anything on the fire cause," said Columbia Fire Department Battalion Chief James Weaver.

Brookside said in a statement that it will be working with nearby Stephens college to provide temporary housing for all residents.

The preliminary damage cost for the complex totals around 7 million dollars.

Since the apartment complex was still under construction, no one had to evacuate.

No one was injured.
