(AP) -- Three prominent actors will perform a Biblical adaptation in Joplin this weekend as part of the events leading up to the first anniversary of the deadly May 2011 tornado.

Two dramatic readings of the Book of Job are scheduled for Sunday, two days before the tornado anniversary.

The free performances will feature Academy Award nominee David Strathairn, Emmy and Golden Globe award winner Paul Giamatti and veteran film actor Arliss Howard, a native of Independence, Mo.

The readings are produced by Outside the Wire, a troupe based in Brooklyn, N.Y., that uses theater to explore public health issues and social problems.

The performances are scheduled for 3 p.m. at College Heights Christian Church and 6 p.m. at Memorial Middle School.
