The Walker Apartments on Mulberry in Jefferson City have long been known by neighbors as a problem spot.

They're now vacant and have been purchased by the city.

The city used federal flood buyout money to make the $350,000 purchase.

The three buildings will be used for fire department practice this summer and then be demolished in the fall.
