The Columbia Fire Department is investigating a fire on Mizzou's campus.

Fire crews were called to the Brady Student Center just after 8 p.m. Monday night for a report of a structure fire.

When crews got to the scene they reported smoke and flames coming from a commercial trash compactor in the Brady Student Center loading dock on the east side of the building.

Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire in the trash compactor.

Smoke from the fire triggered the building's smoke alarm system, and occupants were evacuated from the building for about thirty minutes.

It's unclear what caused the fire.
