One dead, four injured after crash on I-70

Update Friday, April 20th at 11:55 a.m.:

Two of the people involved in Thursday night's fatal crash in Callaway County have been released from the hospital.

The driver of the car involved, Jason Hopkins, has been upgraded to good condition.

Original Story:

One person died and four others were injured after a two car accident on Interstate 70 Thursday night.

The driver of 2001 Pontiac, carrying four people lost control of his car in the westbound lane and went off the side of the road, near mile marker 153. The car went through the median barrier and entered eastbound lanes where he struck a freightliner head on.

Passenger Erskin Johnson died on the scene. Mary Chapman, Marcus Singleton and Bryana Jordan all were transported to University Hospital with serious injuries.

The driver, Jason Hopkins, was also transported to University Hospital with moderate injuries.

None of the people in the car had their seatbelts on.

The driver of the freightliner, Charles Boerstler, was not injured.
