COLUMBIA, MO -- Columbia police are looking for a burglar partly responsible for putting three schools on a brief lockdown.

At about 8:30 a.m. Wednesday, officers responded to a burglary in progress at a house in the 2400 block of Blue Ridge Road. Because of the incident and the close proximity to some schools, the public school district put Blue Ridge Elementary, Lange Middle, and Oakland Junior High schools on lockdown.

After a short foot chase, police caught Dreshawn Marshall, 17. He’s suspected of second degree burglary, resisting arrest, and stealing. Prosecutors have not charged him in this case, but he does have a recent history with the law. Marshall faces another theft charge stemming from December 2011.

Police are still looking for another suspect. Officers do not have any information on what he or she looks like.
