JEFFERSON CITY -- Jefferson City residents will have the chance to chuck their large unwanted items during the annual spring clean up. Starting Monday, April 16th, Allies Waste will start on the east side of Jefferson City. People living east of Jefferson Street should have their items by the curb by 5am Monday, April 16th.

The west side pick up will start Monday, April 23rd.

Items that will be accepted include:

large/bulky items,
furniture,
mattresses,
microwaves,
televisions,
tied bundles of scrap material under 4 ft. in length.

Regular household refuse will be picked up only if inside a blue Allied Waste cart.

Items that will not be picked up include:

appliances,
bags and/or boxes of debris,
tires,
yard waste,
rocks,
bricks,
concrete,
waste oil,
car parts,
acid batteries,
lumber or guttering more than 4 ft. in length.

Other upcoming trash and recycling events scheduled include:

E-Waste and Appliance Collection

Saturday, April 21, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Midwest Recycling Center, 1327 N. Hwy. 179.
A fee of $15 is required for TVs; and other items are free. No reservation is required.

Pharmaceutical Take-Back

Saturday April 28, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Jefferson City Police Department, 401 Monroe St., alley entrance; no fee or reservation is required.

Household Hazardous Waste Collection

April 25, May 9, May 23, June 13, June 27, July 11, July 25, Aug. 8, Aug. 22, Sept. 12, Sept. 26, Oct.10 and Oct. 24.
