COLUMBIA -- Updated: Monday, April 9th at 11:45 a.m.
The spokeswoman for Columbia Public School District, Michelle Baumstalk says in a statement, the school was placed on an external lock down at about 10:30 a.m. Monday.
The school was put on the external lockdown as a safety precaution while safety and security officers and law enforcement investigated a possible threat from outside the school building sent via text message to a student at Rock Bridge High School.
Baumstalk said the school district takes student safety matters very seriously.
She went on to say all students are safe and the lock down was lifted at 11:10 a.m. after the concern was investigated.

The lock down at Rock Bridge High School in Columbia is now over.
Dr. Chris belcher, Columbia Public Schools’ Superintendent told KRCG 13 News the lockdown was due to a general threat towards Rock Bridge High School students from another student within the school district.
The student sent the threat through a text to a Rock Bridge High School student.
Belcher said the text was in retaliation for the weekend murder of 17-year-old Bryan Rankin.
Rankin was a student at Rock Bridge High School.
The 15-year-old who was taken into custody in connection to the murder attended West Junior High School.
Columbia police are still on the scene

KRCG 13 News is covering a developing story in Columbia.
Rock Bridge High School is under a lockdown.
Deputies with the Boone County Sheriff's Department along with officers from the Columbia Police Department are on the scene.
Authorities say all of the students are safe but wouldn't comment on the situation.
A parent told KRCG13 News that there was some sort of threat made against the school.
