There are a lot of people calling for a local elementary school prinicpal to be rehired.

There was a large turnout at Blair Oaks Middle School today for the open hearing regarding Blair Oaks elementary principal Lorie Winslow.

The attorney for the school district repeatedly referred to Winslow's handling of performance evaluations for teachers.

D
istrict officials say she lost teacher evaluations and that's the main reason why she wasn't rehired for the 2012- 2013 school year.

KRCG tried to talk to district supporters and officials but they declined our interviews.

However, Winslow's supporters would talk to us.

"If there was a problem with performance evaluations being completed by Lorrie Winslow, perhaps that is something that could have been approached before it got to the level where she was not renewed," said Judy Kemper, who came in support of Winslow.

Several Winslow supporters talked about this year's school board election, and they say they'll look to replace current members of the Blair Oaks school board if Winslow is not re-hired.

"This feels like people are out to get Lorie, it really does. This just isn't going to fly with the community, her paperwork issues. She's above and beyond what she needs to do for her job. This isn't going to fly, and I think you're going to find in the election that the people are going to speak their voice, because if they weren't watching before, they're watching now," said Dawn Brooks, a vocal supporter of Winslow ever since it was announced that she would not be hired for next year.

School Board officials said that a decision would not be made right away on Winslow's re-hiring. They have 72 hours to decide that.

KRCG will closely follow this story as it develops.
