COLE COUNTY -- Update: Friday, March 23rd at 5:35 p.m.:
Cole County Deputies have confirmed the discovery of Michael Wayne Strobel's body in the Moreau River.
They said the Missouri Highway Patrol, Water Patrol Division discovered it Friday afternoon after doing a sweep of the area.
Stobel was reported missing from his vehicle on Thursday night at the 800 block of Murphey's Ford Road.
Deputies say that they recieved tips from residents which led them to Stobel's body. Those people reported suspicious behavior coming from Strobel, who they did not know.
An autopsy will be performed on the body to determine the cause of death.

The Cole County Sheriff’s Department is looking for a missing man who may have fallen into a river.
Deputies said they’re looking for 33-year-old Michael Wayne Strobel.
Strobel is described as a white male, turning 34 later this month. He is 6’2”, 250 pounds with brown eyes and hair.
Just after 7:00 pm Thursday, Strobel was reported missing from his vehicle in the 800 Block of Murphy’s Ford Road.
Cole County Deputies, Missouri State Highway Patrol Troopers along with Capitol Police, Region West and Jefferson City Firefighters responded to the area.
Cole County Sheriff Greg White said Strobel could have fallen into the Moreau River, which is flooding.
Officers searched the woods and river banks Thursday night and Friday morning; with the help of the MSHP helicopter, a fire boat on the river, and forward looking infrared radar.
MSHP Water Division is preparing to place assets on the river at this time.
