Big Tavern Creek was flooded across Highway A Wednesday morning.
At 5 a.m Cory Holtmeyer, of St. Anthony couldn't see the water over the road.
Michael Schulte is Holtmeyer’s cousin, he said, “He saw the water, hit his breaks, by the time he hit the water he hydroplaned and got out in the middle of it".
A few minutes later Abraham Faulkner was also on his way to work and saw Holtmeyer stranded in the water.
Faulkner said, "I felt sorry for him more than anything you know because it could happen to anybody”.
Faulkner called 9-1-1 but knew time wasn't on their side and the water was rising fast.
They needed a boat, and being a fisherman he didn't have to look any farther than his own garage.
"Franks Schulte and myself we pulled it down there and launched it and myself and some of the volunteer firefighters got out in life-jackets and got him pulled up to his truck secured a vest on to him and got a rope and got him into the boat", Faulkner told us.
Holtmeyer got to safety and wasn't hurt.
Faulkner says he's just glad to help, "Just living out here in the country is just great because you got people who would do anything for you and that's why you kind of feel obligated to do the things that I did for Cory because at any given moment any of these people around here would do the same for me"
