Police arrest drunk driver after he hits gas line

COLUMBIA -- Police arrested a drunk driver after he hit a gas line in Columbia.

It happened just before 3 a.m. Tuesday on Forum Boulevard at Katy Lane.

Police said Ahmed Haney, went off the right side of the road and hit a main natural gas distribution station.

Forum Boulevard was closed for about three hours resulting in interruptions to the fitness businesses near the trail and several upset motorists.

Due to the crash, Columbia residents will have interruptions to their natural gas services Tuesday.

The City of Columbia Street Department was called to the scene to assist along with Ameren UE.

Ahmed Haney was arrested for driving while intoxicated with a bond amount of $500.00.
