Columbia Police break up drug ring

Columbia Police arrested five people after finding a drug distribution center Thursday.

Officers found the operation while serving a search warrant in the 800 block of St. Charles Street Thursday afternoon.

They said the residence included a large quantity of cocaine, marijuana, packaging materials, scales, cash and two firearms.

One of the suspects tried to flee while trying to throw evidence out of a vehicle.

Police arrested Leoppoldo Nava-Nava, Gonzalo Nava-Nava, Marco Reyes-Estrada and Javier Rubi-Pedroza. The suspects face first degree drug trafficking charges. Rubi-Pedroza also faces a  tampering with evidence and resisting arrest charge.

A fifth suspect, Rhiannan Perkins, faces a misdemeanor marijuana possession charge.
