It was a packed house at the Missouri Theatre on Thursday night as the True/False Festival jubilee got underway in downtown Columbia.
The main event tonight was the showing of the Oscar-winning documentary film Undefeated, and people were decked out in their most fashionable gear to watch the film, and chat with other film lovers.
This was the ninth year of the film festival, and the organizers say they have seen it grow from just a little over 4000 the first year, to an expected 34,000 this year.
We're thrilled with the growth, but evene more thrilled with how much it's become part of the Columbia community. I feel like people really embrace it. It's a very home-made fest; it's very different than other film festivals, and we love that.
The event will go through Sunday March 4th, with several film showings and a participatory parade on Friday night at 5:15 p.m. Through Ninth Street, complete with human-powered floats, marching bands, and costumes.
