A woman who lost control of her S-U-V in downtown Moberly caused a series of collisions which injured two men on the street, one seriously.

Police say 71 year old Ruby Jo Johnson was backing her 2012 Expedition into a space at 4th and Reed Streets when she accelerated causing a chain reaction crash that damaged two cars and injured a pedestrian.

Then, police say Johnson hit the gas and speed forward across the street hitting three more cars, pinning a man between two of them.

The car finally stopped when it hit a building at 401 W. Reed St., housing Merrell University.

Police don't know what caused the woman to lose control. The accident happened just after 2:00pm Thursday.

The man who was pinned, 31 year old Denie Langerud of Moberly, is in fair condition at University Hospital.

Johnson was taken to Moberly Regional Medical Center for knee pain, and another man, Howard Houston, was treated in Moberly for a leg injury.
