A 47-year-old Columbia man pleaded guilty to possession of child pornography. Joseph Kreiser’s plea came Monday in Boone County Circuit Court.

In February 2011, a Boone County Sheriff's Department Cyber Crimes Task Force investigator discovered a computer believed to be in the Columbia area that was offering child pornography through a file sharing program. Investigators traced the transmission to a particular residence in Columbia.

In March of last year, a court ordered search warrant was served in the 2900 block of N. Rangeline. Police said several items were seized. Further investigation found more than 60 images of pre-pubescent children.

Shortly after, the Boone County Prosecuting Attorney's office charged Joseph Kreiser with one count of possession of child pornography. The defendant was arrested on June 10, 2011 and has been in the Boone County Jail since his arrest.

Kreiser’s final sentencing is scheduled for April 16th.
