JEFFERSON CITY -- A multi-agency drug sweep has netted more than two dozen arrests throughout mid-Missouri, all in the fight against heroin.
For the past three weeks, the Mustang Drug Task Force, the Jefferson City Police Department and the Cole County Sheriff’s Department have worked together to make the arrests. Officers targeted heroin dealers and their operations, including Matthew White, who is suspected to be the supplier in many heroin overdoses in the Capitol City. When law enforcement officials searched his house on Katy Lane in Cole County, they found an ounce of raw heroin, with an estimated street value of $7,500 to $10,000, two handguns and things used to package and distribute heroin.
Of the 26 arrests, 19 suspects face charges of distribution of a controlled substance. The other seven face charges related to possessing drugs.
