Jefferson City, Cole County, and local Highway Patrol law enforcement officials were put out in the cold this morning, but for a good reason.

They helped kick off the 15th Annual "Freezin' for a Reason" fundraising event on top of the Coca-Cola bottling plant in Jefferson City.

They dressed up in a polar bear outfit, climbed on top of the building, and waved at drivers in hopes they would stop by and drop off donations.

The event is designed to raise money for the annual the Lake of the Ozarks Polar Plunge, but more importantly, to raise awareness for Special Olympics programs state-wide.

The Polar Plunge will be going on Saturday , February 25th, at the Lake of the Ozarks in Osage Beach, and KRCG will have it's own team participating to help raise money for the event.

For more information go to the Special Olympics web site, and also be sure to check out the Team KRCG page.
