The device was reportedly found and removed by Diedrck Kahrs, the school's superintendent.
At 11:00 a.m, the lockdown ended. No one was hurt and class is now in session as normal.
A Pettis County Sheriff Office official told KRCG\ that they had no arrests during the incident, and they received reports that the item was similar to a World War II-era ammunition shell casing.
