COLUMBIA, MO. -- Columbia police are still searching for leads in their investigation of a Friday night shooting at the Boone Tavern restaurant.
Investigators say more than 20 shots were fired during an altercation that left a man, 19, recovering from gunshot wounds.
Restaurant Manager James Gray said parts of the police report about the incident are false.
Gray said the incident did not happen outside of Boone Tavern, it happened in an alley behind his business.
He also said people attending a party at his restaurant were not involved with the shootings.
Gray said, “Our security people did everything correctly. As far as we know, the people that were involved had nothing to do with our party. You have people like that, that looks for things to do. The shooting occurred near Ninth Street. Law enforcement said everything happened in front of Boone Tavern which is not correct.”
Gray does not plan on making any security changes at Boone Tavern.
