COLE COUNTY -- A man accused of murder in Cole County is scheduled to be in court today.

Jose Hurtado, 22, of California, Missouri’s preliminary hearing is set for 1:30 p.m.

Hurtado is accused of second degree murder in the shooting death of Francisco Navarro.

The Cole County Sheriff's office said Navarro was the passenger in a truck when a fight broke out over a loud muffler in December.

Navarro reportedly got out of the truck to stop the fight.

That's when authorities said Hurtado, pulled out a gun and killed him.

He was shot and killed in December in the Apache Flatts Mobile Home Park, just outside of Jefferson City.
