Update: Thursday, January 19 at 8:30 p.m.:

Prosecutors have charged Quentin Davis for Wednesday's incident in Jefferson City.

Davis is charged with DWI as a chronic offender, driving while suspended (2nd or subsequent offense), unlawful use of drug paraphernalia, resisting arrest and assaulting an officer.

He's in jail on a $200,000 bond.

Original Story:

A Jefferson City man was arrested after he resisted arrest and attacked police officers.

Officials with the Jefferson City Police Department said the incident started when an officer puller over 47-year-old Quentin Michael Davis, who was driving in a careless and reckless manner. The routine traffic stop happened around 4:30 p.m. Wednesday in the 900 block of Rock Hill Road.

The arresting officer, a 5-year-veteran, said Davis wouldn’t stay in his car and displayed “agitated, aggressive mannerisms”.

The officer tried to handcuff Davis, but Davis resisted and began to physically fight with the officer.

During that fight, two citizens stopped and assisted. One tried to restrain Davis, but was unable to do so. The other one used the officer’s police radio to call for help.

Two more citizens stopped to try and restrain Davis, who was still fighting. Shortly after, another police officer arrived to the scene; and was able to help take Davis into custody. Davis tried to bite and hit the officers in the process.

Police said they arrested Davis for the following reasons: felony driving while revoked, felony driving while intoxicated (chronic offender), felony resisting arrest, 3rd degree assault on a law enforcement officer and possession of drug paraphernalia.

He was taken to the Cole County Jail on a $15,500 bond.

The Police Department said officers and citizens sustained minor injuries during the assault.
