Men found unconscious arrested on theft/heroin charges

Police have now identified the men as Jason Drinkard, 34, and Kenneth Johnson, 38, both are from Jefferson City.

Update: 1-11-12, 4:11 p.m

Two Jefferson City men are behind bars in connection with a theft in Hannibal in addition to suspicion of possession of Heroin and receiving stolen property.

Police were investigating a hit-and-run accident on Sunday when they found two unconscious individuals in the suspect vehicle. Police said they called Cole County EMS and both individuals were transported to the hospital for an apparent overdose.

Police said while investigating the two men, aged 34 and 38, they found the men had heroin and had been involved in a theft case out of Hannibal. Stolen items from that case were found in the vehicle.

Police said both men were arrested on suspicion of possession/distribution of a controlled substance (heroin) and receiving stolen property. Charges are pending on both.
