Fire burns through home's roof

A Columbia family is unhurt after the roof of their house caught fire Sunday evening.

Columbia firefighters responded to a call at about 6:30 p.m. for a fire on Limerick Lane in southwestern Columbia.

Fire fighters put out the fire quickly, which had burned through the roof into the home's attic.

An investigation revealed that embers in the home's fireplace started the fire.

The fire caused an estimated $10,000 worth of damage.
