COLUMBIA, MO. -- Columbia School Board Members recently held a special session to discuss the progress of their redistricting plan.
Members of a boundary committee have narrowed their options from 6 to 5.
The boundary choices that remain continue to be tweaked by school board members based on the feedback they received from the community.
School officials said the overall goal is to have boundaries that fit the sizes of their school buildings.
Columbia Public Schools Spokeswoman Michelle Baumstark said, “We want to eliminate our trailers at all of our secondary buildings. That’s quite a challenge to make sure that meeting the capacity of the building and we are able to create a positive school communities with all of our staff which will be changing buildings just like our students will be changing buildings.”
Columbia Public School Officials have received more than 1,000 public comments on the scenarios for district boundary changes.
School Board members plan to decide on a final plan during their meeting in February.
