Our Facebook friends wanted to know how the Pilgrims and Native Americans celebrated the first Thanksgiving.
Back in 1621 in Plymouth, MA the Pilgrim's first corn harvest was so plentiful that Governor William Bradford organized the three day feast and invited the Indian allies as well.
While there are no exact records of what they ate, we checked various historical web sites and found historians believe the celebration included plenty of wild birds, deer, dried meat, fish, eel and even lobster.
Side dishes were probably probably made from cornmeal like a type of cornbread pancake, corn mush, and corn pudding.
For the Pilgrims sugar was in short supply, so there were likely no sweet desserts.
