Cole County prosecutors have charged a man for a weekend apartment fire that left one person injured.
Don Salcedo faces one count of first degree arson. He’s in jail on a $100,000 bond. Police arrested him Tuesday afternoon.
According to court documents, Salcedo was seen on the in-house surveillance system three times within three hours of the arson. Video shows him on all three floors and at one point he’s seen lighting an item on fire before walking out of the apartment building.
According to online records, Salcedo did not live in the apartment building, but does reside on the same street a couple blocks away.
The fire left 20 people without a place to live.

A Jefferson City man is in the Cole County Jail, arrested on suspicion of 1st degree arson from Saturday's large fire on Mulberry Street.
Jefferson City Police said the man is 39-years-old, but wouldn't release his name, pending formal charges. Police say this arrest came from an extensive investigation that involved assistance from the Jefferson City Fire Department.
The fire happened at an apartment building on the 600-block of Mulberry street just after 4:00 a.m. November 19.
20 people were inside the apartment building when the fire began, including several children and two infants. No one was injured.
On Saturday, fire officials said the fire began on the third floor, possibly in a hallway or common area of the building.
The Red Cross helped the displaced families with their immediate needs like clothing, food and shelter.
